When I came home a little while ago I notied the fish in my 6 gallon tank. (3 tetras, 3 hacketfish, and a BN pleco) were infected with ick. I do not have any ick treatment and the LFS is closed. I searched online what I could do to maybe hold them over til morning when I can go get ick treatment. I did a 50% water change and put a heater in the tank because one site said that the heat will kill some of the parasites. My question is that I dont have aquarium salt. (I am so unparpared for this) Could I possibly put table salt in the tank? I don't know the differences between the two. Also anything else I could do would help me so much.

A temp of 86*F will kill the Ich, it will take about 2 weeks. Do that alone or in addition to salt, table salt will do in a pinch.

Just make sure that you treat at least 3 days past when all the spots disappear. And not too much salt. With regular rock salt it's 1 heaping tablespoon per 5 gallons. So, you probably need about half that with table salt, I'd put about 2-3 teaspoons in your tank.
