I have a problem. I got a 100 gallon fisk tank set up with 2 red devils. they where fighting so i made a tank didvider out of egg crate. I made some bigger holes in the divider for smaller fish to swim thru but keep the devil to there own side. It worked great because i had some eels and convicts that enjoyed the pleasure of both sides. the 2 devils would try and grab each others mouths thru the holes but nothing serious ever came out of it. everything was working great until i came home the other day and saw that the smaller red devil was miising his top lip. it got completely ripped off. my fish are smaller 7 inches and bigger 8 inches. will his mouth heal up and regrow or will i have a gimp fish? the other question is that even with his lip missing, he still trying to fight with the other devil. what should i do to control the aggression?

You need to put the 2 devils in seperate tanks the aggression will not stop I would suggest you get rid of yoru gim one since he is now injured and may not be able to eat right, I do not think his lip will grow back.

i took the injured red devil back to the store. i was hoping to trade him in for something else. well the guy at the store idn't give me any store credit toward the fish because he said that since the fish was damaged that it wasn't worth anything :mad2: . not even a small firemouth. i well, i guess this was meant to be a learning experience.

Some people cut the lips off of their pronas to make them look meaner. As mean as that is I beleive they grow back and they recut them. I have a parana head in a clear acrilic cube with his lips cut off so this leads me to beleive this is a true thing.
I beleive you could have kept this fish till his lip regrew howeverm, I also agree with the last post that the aggression wouldnt have stopped
