Hello,

I've owned a tropical aquarium for many many years, but have recently decided to get myself a marine tank. The tank i'll be using is currently a tropical tank, however the fish have all been moved so its ready to be converted to marine.

The tank is a tropiquarium 88:

This as standard comes with the biolife filtration system:

I will of course give the tank a proper wash down and change the active media things in the filter... giving a complete fresh start... but is this enough, will i need anything else to get things going - extra pumps, a skimmer, moonlights?

I'm going to have to get the tank setup, ready let it cycle then get going on my big step into the marine world... but my goal is for a couple of clowns with an anemone.

Thanks for any advice / experiences you can share.

I have a sucessfull marine tank up for over a year now. All I have is a outside filter, a heater, flourecent light, calcium substrate, air, some plants & shells, fish, and- of course- salt water. Though I know a protein skimmer is also recommended, I do not use one.

OK basically this is what i think you will need:

Skimmer, IMO get a remora with maxijet 1200
LR, 1/3 of the tank LR is what most people get
Calicum based sand eg. coral sand
2 powerheads at About 1050 gallons together if you plan to have a reef otherwise less turnover is needed.
If you want reef either get T5, MH or Compact Fluros, if you want non reef then get normal fluros

If you want clowns with an anemone then i would get ocellaris with a magnificent Anemone if possible, this means you would be better going for T5 of MH lighting.
