I am heading to the lfs later this week and I want to get a snail. Because I have a planted tank I need to get one that does not eat healthy plants. I was looking online and I believe I want a bridgesii snail. However, I know that the canaliculata snail looks very similar. Is there anyway to tell the difference between the two if they are of similar size?

Cant help you there but maybe you should print out a really clear pic of the type of snail you want as backup when you head to the store. contrast and compare- that way you wont mess up. Certainly wanna do everything you can to keep the plants. Nothing like a failsafe =D

The difference between Brigs and Canas is that when you look at the spires, Canas' shell coils (shoulders) have a rounded appearance, while Brigs' coils are squarish; and Canas have a groove where the coils attach to each other, while Brigs are attached at a 90 degree angle without a groove.
