I currently live close to an ocean and was wondering if I take live rock from the ocean, how would I transport it, and how would I cure it so that I would be able to put it into my tank :help:

Several things to consider. First, you will need to verify if it's legal to collect. In many places, it is not, and the fines and such are hefty. Second, you don't want to collect close to the shoreline. Pollutants are concentrated near the shore, and you do not want to import them into your tank. Third, are you near tropical waters? If not, I wouldn't even try--while the bacteria will likely survive, any hitch hikers won't, reducing the appeal of removing them.

If, however, it is legal, and you can collect from a site sufficiently far away from the shore, and you have access to tropical waters, transporting will be a simple matter of bringing a bucket of water, preferably one with a lid to reduce splash. Curing should be minimal, although I would encourage you to quarantine it before putting it in your tank so you can remove any 'bad' hitch hikers that come along.

1) It's illegal
2) Unless you live next to a reef the "live" rock you're referring too is probably some sort of undesirable heavy slate type rock.
