stocking question for 8 foot american tank

Hi all, I've got an 8x2x2 sitting in my garage, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. How does this combination sound?

Paratilapia polleni
Geophagus brasilensis
Hypsophrys nicaraguensis (1 pair)
Firemouth
Gold Severum

I'd like to keep aggression down. Will the Nic's wreak havok in there?

in my experience, 'nics' are pretty mild mannered as are your other fish. i think your combination will work just fine.
 
i noticed in ur heading 8 foot american tank am i correct in the assumption u want south american cichlids?
 
Jason- originally I was hoping to set up a South American "Biotope" type tank, but due to the restrictions on imports and general cost of cichlids in Australia, I was unable to get the fish I was after for a reasonable price, so I've decided to go with a community cichlid aquarium with the fish I like and that could tolerate a common water chemistry.
