First I had an anemone get sucked up in my powerhead and died and not I just had my greem chromis get sucked up and died. I there anything I can do to deter this from happening
My power head came with a rectangle shaped, sponge like thingy...
It fits right over the intake tube. They may sell them separately.

Put a prefilter on it. It should be equipped for one, otherwise just use some acrylic glue and put a 1" hunk of plastic tube on it (like an undergravel one) and rubber band a filter sponge on the bottom or outside.

What kind of powerhead is it? I find that with the ones I use the screens are sufficient enough to keep critters out.

They are penguin powerheads. They have a tube on the bottom with slits, but obviously have not been working to well. Does anyone know of any sites where I can get a sponge for it?
voodoochild had the best idea...
extended tube with a sponge and a elastic...
.50 sponge , .05 elastic and a .75 tube.....
$1.30 total....
