We have a clear whitish film on the front and sides of the glass. When I feel it with my finger it is slimey, and comes off as little white stringy bits in the water. They don't look like live worms or anything, and I am not sure but I think the fish may be grazing on it? Our swords and platy wanted nothing more than to go up and down one side of the tank all morning after the WC.
Could this be some algae that is taking hold? The tank is only about a week and a half old, it is cycling but has been boosted by the addition of a filter and media from another tank.
ph 7.1
kH 40ppm
gH Soft
temp 77'
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0 (Tank has been running for a week and a half, still nil nitrite...)
Nitrate 20ppm (this could be from our water, or we could be cycled? I get a 0 reading on fresh water)
freshwater of course, and planted.
recently picked up a dual t5 18w 30' coralife fluorescent with a 10,000k and an acitinic blue (which will shortly be replaced by the coralife plant replacement bulb).
