I got recently got a Penguin 330 filter free after posting a want ad, and I was wondering if I was missing any pieces, and what I should do. I have some pics of the filter after a good bit of cleaning and everything it came with(Ignore my hair LOL)

What are the things in the second pic? Where does the filter go, and can I make the filter my self? Thanks!

I did check that out, but I found it very confusing and I wasn't able to figure out if I was missing anything or not.

It looks like you are missing the Bio-Wheels and the actual filter cartridges. You should be able to pick them up at Petco/Petsmart or any LFS that stocks Penguin filters. You will need two of each...

Filter cartridges: http://petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?Nav=221&sku=157244&R=8869&enemerch=1

Bio-Wheels: http://petco.com/Shop/Product.aspx?R=6276&PC=productlist&Nav=222&N=24%20112%2030%205791&sku=243329&familyID=9464&

Those house the filter cartridges...

You may want to check the Marine Labs website for an online manual. It should have an exploded view detailing how all the piece fit together. It's linked in the first reply to ths thread.

Those are just media storage things. You can put something like carbon in there. Ive never bothered to use them.

Aren't those the actual filters? You know, the stuff that keeps the water clean? Why would you not use them?

Those are just media storage baskets that hang in the back of the filter.

The filter cartridges have blue floss on the front, and go up front in the filter.

Thats what I thought. I was thinking that I would put my Purigen bags in there. Thanks for all of the help!

you need to pull out the impeller and clean that also, it is located in the middle of the box where the tube goes. as far as filters you can get a good deal at wallmart also those boxes are for substrate and are optional

Whatever you may need like biowheels, fiter cartridges, impellors or any other replacement parts...you can get them at bigalsonline.com. It's a huge site with everything you need for aquarium's aside from big tanks.
