Pleco and brackish water

For some strange reason this question makes me annoyed. Probably because it's the third time it's been posted in three weeks and AC's been shut down for one of those weeks. Also the last person who asked annoyed me by posting it twice, and by being, generally, an idiot. :OT:

That said, NO. If you need a brackish clean up crew for algae etc., look into snails or shrimp.

No. Plecos and catfish generally do poorly in brackish water. they will survive for awhile but it will ultimately kill them. They are freshwater fish.

There area few snails and so,me shrimp though they are hard to find at most pet stores. Brackish water tanks generally require you to do the work to get rid of algae etc...

Olive Nerites do fine in BW. Not quite standard LFS stock, and not cheap, but good workers.
They'll also breed in BW water, but not in FW. Great for BW, fantastic for FW if you want algae eaters that don't lay fertile eggs.

Risking to be hit in the head with a hammer by graphicdesign_r :duh: , I remember that when I was a little boy, I used to go fishing with my dad and brother at the river shore, at no more than 200 ft. from the sea.

Just below a bridge, there were some brown fish that were always stuck to the stones, and I managed to catch them with really small hooks and then sat them free. As it jumped into my mind, I think they looked like plecos, and if I'm not wrong, at that distance from the sea, water would be at brackish level. I assume that, because water level raised during high tide and lowered when tide was low.

:read: some Sea Robins look kind of like plecos... There may be a brackish sucker fish that eats algae but none of the plecos I've seen in stores are brackish, and I've never heard of one.
