I know carbon takes out medication but how about ammonia chips in a power filter? I am treating some of my fishes with antiboitics in a hospital tank. The filter is a whisper power filter with ammomia chips..
Carbon will take out medication but what about ammomia removing chips?

I would never recommend anything that removes ammonia! Bacteria feeds off of ammonia, If you remove all the ammonia, The Bacteria starve and dye off creating a Mini-cycle or even worse a full cycle!
