I'm about to do a 55 gallon Amazon tank, and I was wondering what you all think about the safety of having it on an upper floor. My house is one of those 1960s split level jobs. It's pretty solid, and the place I've chosen would be right above a steel support beam. I remember reading that tanks up to 55 gallons were generally safe for upper floors, but I'm a very cautious type. Any opinions? Experiences?

I'm in a 2nd floor apartment built in the 70's and my 55 is fine.

If you're renting, make sure that you look into and purchase some renter's insurance for that "just in case" act of total stupidity & breakage! LOL

If you're on a solid support, you should be fine with it!

Think about how many waterbeds are or have been in use on upper floors. It shouldn't be a problem for you.

you should be just fine. to be really sure find out which way your floor joists run and put the tank perpendicular to them
