hello,i have a pair of fry.i now have our first fry.i know we can only keep one pair(or thats what i have heard)of convicts in my 55 gal.so what do you do with your fry?i called petsmart and asked them if they wanted them for free.and they said they cant sell them because they have a vendor contract.but they would take them and try and give them away.yea right!!!i am thinking about giving them(the fry)to the mollie tank as live food.but i would like to see some grow.is there a fish that can live with these convicts that might keep the fry in check?and what is a room mate for convicts in a 55 gal.i would like a larger fish.thanks

I have a friend that has a tank full of convicts. Adults and their fry. Having more than one pair is ok as long as you have enough room.

If you have a local aquarium club, they might hold auctions periodically or you might be able to advertise on their website or newsletter or something. Do a google search for aquarium club + your state or city.

Convicts dont go well with anything really except other convicts adn sometimes that doesnt even go well. I would let them grow a little and attempt to sell them.

what about a firemouth or a green terror?or is a 55gal.to small?what would you add to them

I have almost the same problem there with the convict fry....over run and not really any places to sell to. My fry are not so "fry" anymore too and they just had another batch...but the others have eaten their fair share when mom and dad aren't looking...lol. I have 3 Kenyi's in the tank with my pair and they seem to get along good.

I've never berd convicts, but most that I have heard from say thet the parents will end up kiiling previous fry defending teh newest bacth, so it may become a self regulating thing. I also know that many people breed convicts soley for feeders as they are a bit prolific
