um it hasnt happened yet, but what would i do with a dead 15 inch tiger oscar..i cant exactly flush it down the toilet and i cant call animal control to come haul it away and i live in an apartment so i cant burry it in my back yard..do i just place it in the trash :spam:
Ugh, that must suck to lose an oscar (when the time comes)!
Its up to you what you want to do with the fish. I hate the idea of throwing it in the trash But what other choice do you have? It's too bad that you can't just bury it.
Maybe... if you have a family nearby that have a flowerbed or something like that, you can bury the oscar there and the plants will thank you :dive2:
Hope this helps some.

take it to a park or lot or anyplace with some dirt and bury it ... little headstone would be a nice touch. any pet that was with you for 15 odd years deserves that much. or if that's not your bag, just put it out with the trash.
I don't know if it applies to fish but i have a 17 year old dog who about 2 yrs ago seemed to be close to the end - we adjusted her food- easier to digest 'n stuff and the improvement was dramatic she is still living happily though sleeps a lot more than when she was younger.
perhaps your fish still has a couple more years also.
I like that idea. And if you can get away with it, maybe bury at the base of a park tree and carve oscar's name in the bark (not too deep -we don't want the tree to die too!).
i would say try adjusting the diet like no more feeders (if ur using them) algea/seaweed based fish food along with shrimp and fish meal mixed with it. The veggie matter in the pellots should be digested easier. since he is getting up there in the years try to reduce the lights to about only 4-6 hours a day. basically treat him like a senior. thats the best I can advise u that should give him another 6 months to a year. Hope I helped
