Upgrading filter

I am certainly not an expert, but the more filteration the better. The only thing that should concern you is that the current - make sure that this will work with whatever fish you have or plan on getting. I have a 92GAL and I have a Magnum 350 and Penguin 400 - the tank is being filtered at a rate of 8 times per hour - I have thought about even adding more - the cleaner the better.

I would stick to the Whisper brand, but I would get a bigger model. Maybe the next size up. If you have the one from Wal-Mart, trash it!!! The ones from the Pet Store filters much better, believe it or not!!! There is a Whisper for every tank, and I have listed them below:

1-3 gallon- Whisper Internal Filter 3i - 20 GPH

5-9 gallon- Whisper Model 10 - 90 GPH

10-12 gallon- Whisper Model 20 - 105 GPH

13-25 gallon- Whisper Model 30 - 145 GPH

26-35 gallon- Whisper Model 40 - 210 GPH

36-55 gallon- Whisper Model 60 - 330 GPH

56-70 gallon- Whisper Model 60 and Whisper Model 30 - 475 GPH Total

70-80 gallon- Whisper Model 60 and Whisper Model 40 - 540 GPH Total

80-100 gallon- 2 Whisper 60's and 1 Model 20 - 765 GPH Total

I never go by suggested tank sizes, only by gallons per hour rating. If you hav an overstocked tank or have a passion for over filtration, buy the next sized filter and for the tanks with two filters, get the next sized smaller filter (example: an overstocked 100 gallon tank needs two model 60's instead of a model 60 and a model 40) Goodluck with fishkeeping!!!!
