what's the smallest species of stingrays and how big should a tank be for them (minimum tank size) ?

As I understand even the smallest stingray has a disc size over 12". So you need a wide tank, say 24" and probably a min length of 48". Aside from custom tanks, you may need to go longer to get the width.
