Hi my name is jolene and i have just been given a hexagonal tank and i am in the process of sterlising it as it was given to me second hand. They have given me a filter, light and also a air pump which i think the part that goes under the stones is missing. Can anyone tell me what else i need to get to make the tank ready for the fish. Thank you. The tank is roughly 10 gallons and the equipment that came with is is Rena Air 100 which is missing the pipe that goes under the stone, fluval 3plus and also powerhead 402. hope this helps with the advice. It also came with a hexagonol plastic base that has air holes in it.

Sorry for so many questions but...

How many gallons?
What kind of filter or the gph?
Do you have a heater?
what kind of fish do you want to keep?

Also you'll want to get a test kit that tests ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH (master test kit will do that). It sounds like the filter might be an undergravel filter? You will also need a decholorinator. Prime is preffered by most on here.

Make sure to read about cycling your tank before you get fish. Also research the fish like before you get them. This way you won't end up with a fish that will be to big for your aquarium or won't get along in the long-term.

I think what tigers means by the part that goes under the gravel is an air stone possibly?

If so, you can pick them up at any pet shop or wal-mart for around 3.00$'s, give or take.
