OK I'm going to be switching from a 30 to 50 gallon with a brand new eheim filter. I am planning on seeding the new filter by letting it run on the old tank for a while. I want the new tank to be snail free and was wondering if I seed the new filter on the old tank will I also transfer my snail infestation with this method?

You might be okay doing that. But I would simply take your existing filter media, look for snails and snail eggs in the mix and then stick that in your new filter.

That or run the new filter with a sponge or mesh bag/panty hose over the intake to keep snails and their eggs out.

and if that doesnt work, just remove the snails as you see them appear... eventualy if you remove EVERY one that you see you won't see any more...
