Double, triple or more of the total amount of water in your tank?

i was told to cycle your tank 10x per hour.in my 175 i have a dolphin 2000 and with head loss i am about in that range.

10x?

That seems like a lot. I'm going to have a 55 gallon tank. So I should cycle 550 gallons per hour.

I was thinking more around 300.

10X sounds more like total circulation. I am running about 600 gph through my sump on the 90. The input is split, so the skimmer gets about 400 gph and the fuge maybe 200. Is that the perfect number? I don't know, but it's the maximum my overflow can handle.

Well I just wanted to hear opinions on the matter.

I think I will go with a 300 gph rate in my 55. Depending on how cheap I can get a return pump.
