I have some gold fish flake food and no gold fish. The food is not very old, and I think it is perfectly good food. If I could I’d just give it to someone, but I do not know anyone near by who would need it. My question is; could I occasionally give a little of it to my tropical fish? It may still go bad before I use it up, but I’d rather use a little of it than waste it all. I know the two types of fish have different needs. I also know that some variety is good for fish. So... what do you think? What are the reasons I shouldn't feed the food to my tropical fish?

Do it. As long as it's not decomposed it will not harm the fish. Also, you are not feeding them the "wrong" food forever.

I would defently still be feeding them there normal food, I would just add the gold fish flakes a couple times a week.

Ps: Is that a croc with a pet rock (with purple string of course)?

It's the largest rock with purple string available. Useful to tie your croc outside the house.

The reasons you don't usually feed goldfish food to tropiclas is that goldfish have a high carb need in their diet. Tropicals usually need higher protein. This can lead to tissue damage.
