Hello all,
I am just looking for an easy to breed fish. Not a livebearer. I am trying to find a fish that cares for its own even if for only a couple days. Preferably easy to raise the fry.
Here is the equipment I have:
20 Gallon tank
Under gravel filter
Power filter (I could turn this off if necessary or put a stocking over it)
Light
Clay pots
hood
Ph 7.2
General hardness 30 ppm
Also if you could tell me some tips on how to breed it that would be nice. I did some research but couldn't find a whole lot of detail.

Thank You

Convict Cichlids!

So easy to breed that all you need to do is add water!

But I would definitely get rid of the under gravel filter for a breeding tank.

Convicts breed so readily, even at less than 2 inches, and they are the best parents you will ever see!

Just make sure to have a plan for what to do with 100 new fish!

Well I can sort of agree with that, but if you plan on keeping the cons to thier full size, that tank wont be big enough. Also trying to off the fry to an lfs will can be quite difficult sometimes, since cons are so common. You could use them as feeders if that becomes an issue. I have never done it, but Ive seen a few people here have sucess with rams. They would be a bit better suited to that tank size in the long run.

Kribensis would work too, I think. I second that about the UGF.

tiger barbs and convicts, especially breeding convicts, would not be good together. Convicts are much too aggressive when breeding to keep most anything in the aquarium

I wouldn't call angels easy to breed. JMO
