Hello all,
Just wanted to thank all of you for getting me back into the aquarium hobby.
I am no longer "Justlooking".
I recieved a 70 gal (I think, tank is 36x18x24) from a friend and thought I would do a American cichlid tank(temp tank till the new 125 is ready).
I stocked the tank with:
1 male tex
1 female con
1 male(?) GT
1 sun cat
1 plac
All fish are juvies.
the q I have is,the tex & con have breed & produced about 50 fry.Should I remove them to a different tank to raise them,or just let the be dinner for the other fish?
And if kept together will they continue to mate?
Thank again for all the help in the past.
Rick

I think the vast majority of hobbiests on this forum will agree that they should be dinner. Yes they will breed again. Just leave them in there and let nature take it's course.

in the aquarium hobby it is disliked by many to keep hybrid fish (blood parrot, etc) i would leave them in the tank and they should all be eaten up, i have convicts in my tanks and they breed off the hook, i each of my tanks i have sum eggs at the current time, and i just had an old batch hatch a few days and and i seen the free swimming fry for a few days then thery were gone.

Thats what I thought was going to be the opiion of most,
but the parent fish are doing a great job @ keeping the alive,
this weekend I plan on removing the con & taking back to lfs.
Will the male still protect the fry?Or should I remove them also?
Thanks Rick

A con pair not sure about a tx con pair is vicious and should be kept alone! People saying add a pair of cons to your tank to produce food? Dont do it! Cons are probably the meanest fish when paired for their size

I use the cons 1 my main tank and feed the fry to all my tanks
