I just bought Dr. Axelrod's Atlas of Freshwater Aquarium Fishes: Tenth Edition.
The book is basically all photos and no text. There are symbols below the photos, but no where in the book does it explain what these symbols mean!!!! What the hell???!!!!
Is it me? Am I a moron? I don't understand how you can have a book full of symbols and not explain what they mean!!! Does anyone have this book? Can you help?

I have the prior edition..The symbols are explained in the beginning of the book

My experience has been that the atlas is mostly for identification.

I have his "Encyclopedia of Freshwater Tropical Aquarium Fishes" (the expanded addition) It is pictures and LOTS of information. Pretty big book.

The Encyclopedia is much more informative than the atlas. There is a lot of species info online if you do a google search.
