Please Help

alright i read your thread. It seems you have gotten a lot of mis-information from the store where you bought the fish.

1st read this thread about cycleing- even though you've already stocked your tank you need an understanding of how it's all supposed to work.
http://www.aquariacentral.com/forum...=&threadid=3194

now it sounds like you are testing your water before you add it to the fish tank- this is not correct you are suposed to test the water the fish are swimming around in. So let us know what the results are in your next post.

second i do a 50-60% water change on my tank every week- the more often and the larger the amount of water the better. the bacteria that is needed for the fish to survive is not in the water it is attached to the surfaces in the tank and in the filter media.

the filter should not be changed more than once a month- and you should only change 1 component at a time so that you don't remove all of your good bacteria.

as for you fish- many pet stores will take in fish for store credit if they are healthy. you should try to bring some in to the store keeping only a few and cycle your tank- then go back and get more fish

unltimately i would say these fish would provide a good comunity for your 29: 10 of one kind of tetra, 6-8 corys, and your 3 mollies, you've noticed they have fry- which should also periodically be thined and brought to the pet store.

i suspect when you test your tank water will will find some problem having to do with an unfinished cycle- once the water quality is repaired your fish will probably recover

if you get those readings for me i'll give you a precise plan for what to do.

cheers-Kyle

Hey thanks for the reply. I just seen that you did. Please go to this link and read about my tank... I have been testing the water in the tanks too sorry for the misunderstanding. I just checked the water from the faucet once just to be curious and know where its at... Please read my other thread and let me know what you think. THanks a lot! http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68384

Ok, first off you are WAY to over stocked, lose some of them and see if that helps, try taking some back and geting more of one kind.

and as for adding salt to the tank, i dont know about you but i add salt, (lower ammounts then sugested) to my 35 gal convict tank, and it seems to help their gills.

please tell me if i should not be doing this?

You should not be doing this.

You don't have marine fish, you have cichlids. I'm not sure where convicts originate, but if they are African then, if anything, you should add "cichlid salts" which are not the same as aquarium salt or marine salt.

If they are not African, then you don't need anything at all

I'm really confused with all these posts and it's going to take me a bit to sort through it all.

Try to keep all your information and stuff in one post, kay? Actually, bring the old one back by posting in it. Asking people to read your other post is asking a lot and most won't bother.

Listen, you may not know much about forum etiquette (I'm not really one to talk) but: ONE TOPIC = ONE THREAD.

If your thread gets buried, make another post in that thread with the title "bump", and that will send your post back to the front of the line.

Otherwise you'll have as much trouble keeping the threads straight as anything else, and you might miss something posted trying to follow three threads at once on the same topic.

Thanks
