Hey guys,

I have a question about feeding of my multies. I currently have 5 fry that I am feeding about 2-3 times a day. I am heading out of town this weekend and wondering what the best course of action is to get them fed. Im guessing that unlike most community fish they cannot go the three days without food. Any advice?

Thanks

Do you have anyone that can come in and feed them for you? Personally I wouldn't trust an automatic feeder but I don't have any other ideas.

They can absolutely go the three days without feeding no problem. If thier soo small that they NEED to eat every day, then they're small enough to scavange infusoria from the tank, and if thier too big to eat infusoria, then they can go many days without food. I wouldn't give it a second thought. I've personallly left my multi colony for 5 days without feeding and came back to just as many fry as when I left (actually 4 or 5 more came out of shells while i was gone).

If you really feel bad, drop in a fistful of java moss to provide some micro-organisms for them to pick at.

DO NOT use an auto-feeder or have someone feed them unless you have shown them what to do.

Multis are the best. The majority of my colony was raised on nothing but crushed flake.
