I have read alot on CO2 here and I started my own CO2 injected plant tank about a year ago. I find it odd that something that was really stressed to me isnt mentioned at all on these forums that I can see. So I just thought I would bring this to everyones attention and see if anyone else has heard this.

After doing alot of online research I decided to build a 75g heavily planted tank with CO2. I got it all setup, 15# bottle from welding supply store, reactor, etc. I was talking with one of the local experts and he said not to use common CO2 welding-grade gas as it contains many impurities including various welding gasses, moisture, and crud in the tank, which can be considered poisinous. I took my tank back and explained to them my mixup. They worked with me and even refunded my gas. They baked the tank and cleaned it and filled it with 'food grade' co2 wich is safe for human consumption. It costed a little bit more to fill the tank but it was still less than $20 to fill a 15# tank wich has lasted me a year so far.

I havent really come across this info here so I can only assume many use welding-grade co2 without problems...but you never know...
