I was in my lfs a couple of days ago and I was going to buy some frozen blood worms and some frozen mosquito larvae. The guy at the store said I would do better just to pick one of those instead of getting both of them because they are the same thing just different stages of life
yes mosquito larvae are the younger stage of the blood worms.. if ya got bigger fish then get the blood worms .. if ya got smaller fish mayb try the other

bloodworm are different than mossie larvae.Bloodworm are a midge larvae-Anne

Midges are mosquitos, but a different type. Saying that bloodworms are the same as mosquito larva is like saying that a Sheltland Sheepdog is the same as a Rough Coated Collie. Somewhere, way down the line, they probably originated from the same stock, but are not related now.
Ask anyone in Scotland about midges and they'll give you some real horror stories :)
