Hi all, I'm new to the board and I need some advice.

My fresh water tank has developed some small green spots on the inside and I need some recommendations as to how to get rid of them easily. I'm guessing it's algea, since it seems like everything green in a tank is algea related :)

I tried wiping them off yesterday with a towel with little success. Any help?

It’s a pretty common algae ….and tough. I use an old plastic credit card to scrape it off the sides of the tank.

If you want to see what spot algae looks like up close, type in ‘Coleochaete’ in Google images.

just purchase a Alge Sponge on a stick. IT is GREAT, mine takes off all fo ti with a little work. You could also consider a alge eater to help. If you tanks will support the fish.

Thanks guys!

zave, I used to have this kind of algae eater (not sure what they're called):

And later ended up getting one of these after the other one died:

I didn't have the problem until the former died, so it may be a good idea to find some more. For the time being, I'll have to use the credit card method.

you could try getting a Alge Magnet it sticks on the outside/inside via amagnet and drags across. I dont use one, i use the sponge. I have heard they are good.
