I need a quick answer, ebay item ending soon. I looking at a dvd burner but it requires a usb 2.0, I have usb ports on my computer, will these work with usb 2.0 cable? Please reply

USB cable is USB cable...

BUT, if you dont have USB 2.0 ports then it may not work. THere are two types

USB 1.1
USB 2.0

USB 2.0 is 100x faster then 1.1 Thats why you have to have USB 2.0 to run something like a burner.

Hope that helps

The ports are the same but your PC (motherboard) has to be able to support USB 2.0.
Post your PCs specs and i can look it up.

You can also look under START, Control Panel, SYSTEM, Hardware Tab, Device Manager, Universal Serial Bus controllers for something like a USB2 entry or Enhanced USB similar to this:

Intel(R) 82801EB USB2 Enhanced host controller - 24DD

Where the first part (Intel + number) is determined by your hardware.

no that wont tell you.... lok it up in your BIOS when it boots it MAY say it somewhere. OR you can give us your computer and model and we and try adn help you out

I dont know a whole lot about computers but I just found a USB 2.0 hub that came with my laptop, will I be able to hook this up to my desktop if it doesnt support usb 2.0?

You can hook them all up - they are compatible BUT the problem is your USB connection is always gonna be as slow as its slowest component. So if your PC only supports USB 1.1 that means it can transmit data to connected devices (hub, burner, ext HDD, webcam etc) at that speed even if those devices support USB 2.0.
Imagine 2 different size (diameter) pipes. The thinnest pipe in the system (USB1.1) will limit how much water you can pump through the rest - no matter how big the other pipes are.

You cant run a DVD burner with a USB 1.1 connection - it would take hours to burn a DVD.
