I have a post from yesterday but I still need some help, as I said yesterday I now have some cichlids and I need to know if the electric yellows are the same as the labidochromis caeruleus, and the same go,s for themetriaclima zebra and the red zebra are they also the same.I also have at least one livingstoney I think 2 but I,m not sure .Can all these live together in a 55g,so all total I have 8 fish and need to know if thats to many for the one tank along with a pretty big pleco. And as always Thanx for the help Dave E

Yes, electric yellow is the common name for labidochromis caeruleus. The scientific name for red zebras is metriaclima estherae (alternatively maylandia estherae).

The nimbochromis livingstonii will grow close to a foot in length (8"-10" and will be capable of eating smaller fish). An african cichlid which somewhat resembles the livingstonii in both appearance and size is is the nimbochromis venustus.

Your bigger fish might do better in a larger tank. I'm not sure if a 55-gal is adequate space for them.

Your livingstonii is a carnivore requiring a high protein diet, the yellow lab is a omnivore and the zebra is largely a herbivore.

I personally wouldn't mix nimbochromis with mbuna (the zebra and labs are mbuna), in a 55-gal tank due to dietary differences and the tank possibly being too small for two livingstonii (especially if they both turn out to be male).

I agree with what kaybee has said :hi:

Remember to keep these guys in groups, at least 3 or 4 individuals per species. If you return your livingstoni then you will have room to add a couple more yellow labs and zebras. IMO zebras do not make the best yellow lab tankmates, but they are better than the livingstoni.
