A good friend of mine recently got a pleco after seeing it for a short time in my tank. Our question is, is long stringy poop normal for this fish? its all over the bottom of his tank in strings, this one tonight was like 8 inches long and his pleco is about 3 inches long still young. Is this a sign of desease?? Thanks guys

nope, it's a sign of a normal pleco.... a raging waste producing machine...

let him know also that these common plecos get get over 18" to 2 feet big..... the bigger the fish, the bigger the waste, he'll need a big tank for him.

I think is constipated, is it getting a lot of vegetable matter? If it is just eating flakes that could be why. They are herbivores.

I had a pleco once, got to be 6" and one day while standing on my head for the umpteenth time vacuuming poop up from everywhere I had a brilliant idea. Give him to my neighbor. She was tickled to get him and I didn't get another one. You could start a compost pile with a pleco lol.
