I posted this over at Cichlid-forum.com without much success. Maybe someone here can give me some advice. Please no comments about the pleco. He's getting a new home before he gets too big.
I have a 29g tank with the following fish:
1 - 4" Angel
2 - 4" Silver dollars (male/female, not breeding)
1 - 6" common pleco
1 - 3" emerald cory
I've received all of these fish with used tanks I've purchased in the past 3 months. The angel rules the tank except when the pleco comes out to feed. The pleco pushes anyone out of the way that might interfere with an algae wafer. The male silver dollar harasses the female, but since she was added, he hasn't actually done any damage (he chewed her tail fin off initially).
I've been thinking about giving away the silver dollars and getting a tankmate for the angel who I really want to keep. The angel has a great friendly personality. I thought about a single convict until I read some of the advice against it. Breeding angels would be interesting, but I don't have a place to raise the fry and I don't plan to make room for another tank to do so. Any suggestions as to what might go along with him? I'm open to a single fish or a small school. I'm looking for a used 37g tank, but I don't think that really affects my choices.
