Hello all,
unfortunately I don't have a pic,but years ago I had an african cichlid that looked EXACLY like a yellow lab,but it was not yellow,it was ghost white. If anyone knows of this fish & has a pic I would really appreciate it.
It was my favorite fish, had it for years. It was the only one that I have ever seen,& havent seen one since.
Thanks Rick

There are a few Labidochromis caeruleus that are white instead of yellow, such as caeruleus and the Nkhata Bay:

Also, you could be thinking of a Labidochromis spec."Perlmutt":

Posting a pic will really help properly ID it... if you can.

You dont think its the perlmutt? I guess they dont really have a black line in the dorsal, but they do have a pearly sheen. It could have been a hybrid ;)

I think the generic name that they gave it was white lions cove.......

Okay the closest I've come is Labidochromis chisumulae, thats what my friend has. I'm not sure if they are from Lions Cove or not.
Here's the MM species profile:

And here's some shots of my friend's fish (Steve):

These guys have quite dark prominent barring, but I'm sure a female or sub dominant male would not show such barring.

The one I had was a male ,with no barring at all,and he was the king of the tank.
Thanks again Diana

No problem... I want to get to the bottom of this!
Hehe, sooo I talked to my boyfriend who said that the Labidochromis caeruleus "yellow morph" is the one from lions cove, so basically if it was labelled correctly and called a "white lions cove labidochromis" then that translates to a "white yellow lab" thus it would be a Labidochromis caeruleus: http://www.malawimayhem.com/profile_show.php?id=214.
Ignore the blue sheen in the picture, that is due to the lighting and the fact that it was taken out of the water. I imagine it would look a lot less blue and more 'pearly white' under water:

female:

The black line through the eye is something that a lot of labs have, but not always. My male had it but the females didn't.

I guess thats the best I can do.... in terms of commonality I dont see them around very often. Steve who owns the chisumulae is one of the only guys I personally know around here who has a white Labidochromis.
