Once again, this question pertains to my friends 75G Malawi tank. She saw a Frontosa and wants it. My immediate answer to her was no but then I remembered that I know nothing about cichlids, so I thought I'd ask the experts.

What do you guys think?

I'd also say no way jose... one reason being that fronts have a different diet than mbuna do, another reason they get huge, and last but not least they would get the crap kicked out of them by the mbuna... despite them looking like beasts they are actually gentle giants (in cichlid terms)

Good advice on this thread.

Fronts are best kept in a HUGE tank in a group with the possible addition of some other Tangs.

I have a 100 gallon tank with a frontosa that I bought about 3 months ago. He has yet to form the tumor looking deformaty on his forehead. I know these fish get up to 15" which is why I'm gonna have to get rid of him.

***oh and he is the meanest fish I've got, (i have an electric yellow hap and auratus as well) he's already killed a ropefish, two african cichlids, albino frog, and an oscar...
