I had 3 fancy guppies then I read that you should have 5 or more or they would single out the weakest one and kill it. Well, That's what happened, only it hasn't killed it yet. So I went and got 4 more and the same fish is chasing the same fish. There are a few nipped spots on his tail. What do I do???
so now you have 7 total? all male right? remove the one that's being chased to a q tank. Observe what happens to the rest 6, if they seem to get along fine now. Readd the one back from q tank after a week.
I've had guppies for a very long time and never have I seen one die from 'attacks' .. They might play fight around the tank but they are just too small and dont have enough power to cause any injuries.
I've had guppies as well and IME some gang up and attack other guppies AND other fish.
I had a gang of three orange males that attacked and killed my white platy. After he died, they all turned on the black guppy male and killed him. The other guppies didn't get involved. Just those three.
They were very systematic about it, too. They took turns herding him around the tank and nipping at him.
When I separated the males, they were fine. The minute they were back in their old gang, they terroized the tank.
They seem fine today. I was just worried that he was going to nip the tail off of the other one. They all have such pretty tails. Well, 2 of them don't fan out like the others. I'm about to check that out. I hope they're all males!!!
I was looking for info on aggressive guppies. My females are aggressive , not to other guppies, but to white clouds--particularly the smallest and weakest one. I was told that guppies were not aggressive to other fish.
After the 2 surviving guppies I have pass on, I'm done with them! They just pick at the other fish until they die. They've killed 5 guppies and a glass fish. I'm thinking of maybe Oscars........Later of course.

Roan
You were next but they couldnt get out of the tank..
I would place more females in the tank, always go with the ratio of 2:1 or 3:1 when it comes to them. There needs to be more females than males of the males tend to get agressive. They need to release all that pent up sexual frustration some how so a few females should fix that issue..
Actually, What size tank do you have? This also very important to know to help you with your Guppy issue.
