I was wondering which is the best way to test my water? Are the electronic testers better then the tester kits? If so, which electronic tester brands are the best to use? I've had my 55 gal. tank up for 6 months and everyone seems happy and healthy.
Testing for what? I prefer liquid kits of most, but they aren't best for everything that can be tested. And, once the tank is stable, testing for some parameters needn't be done daily, weekly or monthly, but rather when you suspect a problem.
Well I have the liquid tester kit for Ph, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. I was thinking the Ph tester for an electronic tester. I'm not sure what other things can be tested with an electric tester. I'm still wondering which brands work best though.
I test for calcium, phosphates, iron, KH, iodine/iodide in addition to all that you test for, and check the obvious, like salinity and temperature. I use liquid tests for all. I'm not sure, but all I've seen offered for electronic testing is Ph and, I think, salinity. Others may know better. IMHO testing is a "treat" that is fun and I get to do once a week!
