What type do you guys suggest? I'm using it for preasurized CO2 in my 32 gallon. I've been using the Nutrafin Ladder, but I'm looking for something better. Was thinking of the Aquamedic 500. Does anyone have any experience with it? Or something better? Give me your input and advice. Thanks.

Gord.

Roan Art: You don't have a problem with the CO2 gumming up the limewood? I've never tried it.

cyber_ecco: For the size of setup you are talking about, the AM 500 will certainly do the job and then some. Depending on the water flow rate in your tank you might just consider a glass diffuser located in the path of highest water flow into the tank. A decent glass diffuser is much cheaper then the AM 500 setup and smaller in the tank.

Nope, not yet anyhow. I've found it will gum up ceramic-type ones, but not yet with the limewood.

Darn thing produces the smallest bubbles I've ever seen. In fact, if there isn't too much pressure going through the wood the bubbles are so small I have to get real close to the tank to see them.

Further to that, the higher you have your CO2 cranked, the bigger the bubbles will be, BUT because the bubbles are teeny tiny, you really don't need the CO2 cranked as high. There's not as much gas loss. So, if you try the limewood, crank the CO2 down a notch or two if the bubbles are too big.

CO2 Difuser

Check the DIY for plans. Will be a whole lot cheaper and probably better than the purchased ones. The DIY's are mostly external rather than internal.

I did mine DIY, works pretty good. I put some rocks in there to help hold it down, and some thin slate chips to allow the co2 to get through the pot to the saucer. Cause of the color, doesn't look to bad either.

Cost about 2 bucks takeing into accout the sealent that I used.

CO2 difuser

Have a look at the DIY section here and "fishgeeks". The are a number there that are easy to build and that are external/inline difusers. You must therfore be running a sump or a cannister to have the place to inline the difuser. There are also DIY's for the internal difusers. I just sort of ignored them as I didn't buy a fish tank to store plumbing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i use the eheim diffuser and a pvc pipe and put that on the hose. external that is.
