Hi,

i am just setting up a new marine tank but i am finding that when the lights are turned off the tank maintains a temperature of 76 degrees. With the lights on the temperature steadily rises to approx 79 - 80 degrees. I am not sure if i should be worried about this or not. When the light goes out then the temperature obviously drops again. I dont really want to install a cooler but obviously want to maintain a healthy environment.

I would appreciate any help.

Do you have a heater in the tank? if you do, set it at 79-80 degrees, in which case it'll stay stable at that temp. Or, get a computer fan, hook it up to your hood, and set it to turn on when the lights go on...

Good luck. :)

The fans will run about $5-10. Really easy to install--just mount them to they pull the warm air out, rather than blowing air into the canopy (has to do with how much evaporation you'll have resulting). Check Radio Shack--usually the cheapest I've found.
