Oh man am I going to be bruised tomorrow! I was stealing some java fern from my 45 gallon hex tank for my new 5. I had both arms in the water and a pair of scissors so I could make sure to get the ribosome. I was paying a lot of attention to what I was feeling, and positioning the scissors in the right place. I wasn't, however, watching my angel fish.

Now, Mikey, my angel fish, will circle around a foreign object and then, after he's don't sizing it up, he'll nip at it. While I was finding a place to cut, Mikey was deciding if he should pick a fight with an arm. Right after i cut the plant, he attacked.

I was so surprised by the nip, that I jumped, pulling my arm with me, and smacking the inside full force against the top of the lid. It's an acrylic tank, so it didn't give at all. I have a red spot about an inch long and 1/2 an inch wide filled with broken blood vessels. Whats really bad, is after that little episode, in a total "duh" moment, I remembered I have extention shears, so I didn't even need my arm in my tank.

:duh: LOL!!
Now, that's funny! I can relate to that. My angels likes to take nips at me as well my paradise fish does too. I get surprised by that when I'm not expecting it.

Good news is that the java fern looks good. And Mikey still is my favorite fish, the little jerk.

We have one aggressive Clown fish in the small saltwater tank, and the bites actually hurt from that one. I'm not sure, but I guess they have sharp teeth in those tiny mouths.

My tanks has a big sign that reads "BEWARE: Poisonous fish". I keep stingrays in there and I always have to be watching for them when I'm putting hands inside the tank. Many ray owner hand-feed their pets but I don't.

Once I was moving some decor and I placed it on tof ob a buried stingray. She got scared as I did too. I really must be careful.
