Some of the male Zaliosum:

If you look closely you can see the male is "ready for action". The sex organ on the male will be much thinner than the female ovipositor and somewhat pointed. The female is reciprocating with a very nice breeding dress. Note the start of an impressive little hump on the female.

This is the S. Eupterus that is in the tank with the Bifasciatum breeding pair. He is bout 10". I've had him for several years.

Apparently a male by the looks of his barbels.

The 150 gallon Bifasciatum tank. I have an Emperor 400 filter (carbon filter pads and phosphate pads in the media container) and also a Magnim 350 and a sponge filter. It is heated with a Titanium 350 watt heater.
I did something different here to illustrate a point. I pulled lights from another tank and put them on the left hand side of the tank. Note the difference in color from the left and right. The left has a "cooler" bulb and the right side a "warmer" bulb. You can make color corrections in the cmera or the computer when you download the photo. It's good to know up front what kind of lights you have prior to taking the shot. SOme cameras will allow you to do an automatic white balance correction...other simply have the settings for the various available bulbs. cooler=more blue/green warmer=red yellows.
Anyway...

Jumbo's tank is 75 gallons. I have an Eheim 2260 plus a sponge filter on his tank. It's heated with a Titanium 350 Watt heater. He loves moving gravel as you can see. Taek a look at the large stone marbles on the left side of the tank. I bought them in Chinatown years back. At night you can hear the "clack-clack" as he pushes them around the tank. Keeps him busy. Sometimes I will push them all (five of them) into a large pile in the corner then cover them halfway with gravel...just to **** him off. :D
