Hey everyone. I want to say thanks to everyones help so far here on AC. After a few problems with the tank itself (one including springing a miniture leak in the middle of the night that managed to travel from the tank, onto my bed and hit my head :p ) I finally have an established, running and planted tank! It may look fairly devoid of fish, but its pretty busy with small inhabitants. There are probably 15-20 Red Eye'd Chubs, 10 Least Kili-fish, 20 Ghost shrimp, A Black-nosed Shiner, 7 Topwater Minnows, 2 very small, brighty colored sunfish with black spots on their Lat. Line, 10 Mosquito fish, 4 Marbled Mosquito fish (all of the previous fish were caught by me locally) and a very fat and happy feeder goldfish that escaped my Turtle Tank.
Thanks again everyone! Next up on my list is to start IDing the plants I've collected from a nearby sping. Eel grass does a great job of filling a tall 55g Hex tank! :)

goldfries, pardon my ignorance.. but what exactly do you mean by that? I have an idea, but I don't want to assume. You just mean its tall for a 55g? I really liked the tank. So much so that I bought it, leaks and all. Resealing it was a a project in itself but I'd say it was worth it :D

Nice tank. How'd you collect the natives?

Thanks again! I caught all of the fish (except for the goldfish of course) at a spring here in Central Florida called DeLeon Springs with only a hand held 'extend-a-net'. The 2 dollar entrance fee is more than worth its weight in fish;) and the rangers encourage me to catch as many as I like. I think they notice the small things (like how I pick up trash and old fishing line as I wade through the shoreline vegitation) and are happy for me to be there. They will however frequently check my bucket for things that shouldn't be there. Crayfish are one of the creatures you're NOT allowed to remove. Why? Im not sure exactly, I'll have to ask again next time I go. I also have a fishing license just in case I feel like trying to catch some of the 6-8lb large mouth bass, but Im usually too caught up catching minnows :D

Plecokeeper,

I'm not a pleco expert by any means but that doesn't look like a sailfin to me. Hard to tell by the pic but it looks to have different coloration.

I will take another picture for you. I am sure it is one in the index ont hsi website on sailfin pleco's they are off those are no strong colorational sailfin's.
