Guitarrist here. . .
What kind of music do you play? I play mostly bluesish type music. Rock, but I like to experiment with sounds a lot. Primus'ish kinda stuff .

I sing, and my bf plays bass and acoustic guitar, and he also sings. We also write songs together. Kinda a cross between country, adult contemp, rock, and folk. Very hard to explain.

Nice! what bands do you like?
Slappy*McFish
03-04-2006, 3:20 PM
Metal mostly.
Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, Amorphis, Hypocrisy, Death, Amon Amarth, Dimmu Borgir, Septic Flesh, Bloodbath, Arch Enemy, Katatonia....I could go on all day.
I also love other bands like Porcupine Tree, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Dream Theater, Deftones, Ramones. There's just too many to list.
I'm listening to some old Iron Maiden as I type this; though I'm thinking of playing something a bit more mellow. Maybe some Madeski, Martin and Wood is in order.

Have you heard of Chimaira? On their latest album, they got a new drummer who is amazing! I'm watching a Cream DVD while i type this.

I play geetar, mostly blues. But i play classic rock type stuff a lot too.
And cheech, Primus sucks.
I play the alto and tenor sax, been playing for about 11 years now. I am mostly into jazz and classic rock. Music is like therapy for me!! Don't know what I would do without it!
Violin/fiddle here.......
I like just about any piece of music with a good violin/fiddle part. I can usually block out the rest of the song if it's an ugly tune...lol...as long as the fiddle part is good !
I prefer playing the slower sweet/heart wrenching tunes to fiddle music, though fiddling can be alot of fun...I'm just not very good at it...yet....lol....too slow !
I listen to country music more often because it's the only type of music where you can just about guarentee a fiddle in almost every song...lol.
I just love the violin...and can play on that thing for HOURS at a time without realizing how long I've been at it. It's usually when the hubby walks in and asks if I've had enough yet...that I glance at the clock and go
I listen to mostly classical music. Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Saint Saens and Grieg are some of my favorite composers. Some great violin works in those composers for you Emg. Try listening to Saint Saen's Organ Symphony live. The third movement will literly blow your socks off.

I'm on the far left check us out Robin Campbell Band (http://www.robincampbellband.com) , I play bass and sing a little too (not like Robin).
I play sax; mostly tenor and alto, but also some bari and soprano when needed. I've played for quite a few years, but mainly as a hobbyist. I play jazz on tenor for my own enjoyment plus I play in church.
Rrk...I like classical too ! I'm working on a Vivaldi piece now...Opus 3 No. 6 in A minor. Changing positions isn't as hard as I thought it would be, but still needs work...lol...
I'll have to check out that symphony you mentioned....!

a minor...love it, none of those crazy sharps and fklats to deal with.
Emg, can you play "the devil went down to georga"?
I done told you once you S.O.B. Im the best thats ever been...woodle dooldle doo do dy do dy do da doodle....
Lol.........NO......but I do like that one........I have a harder time playing flats than sharps....and my fingers don't like to play over on the G and D string for very long.....but I force them to do it anyway...lol....they're still being trained...

You must not have been to any of thier concerts? Or mabey thats an old thing they dont do anymore. Back in the day, all the fans used to chant "primus sucks!". It's veiwed as a compliment :D
And how could you not have a cool sound with a 6 string fretless bass banjo?!
Ozzfest 1999 I think it was, Primus had a mosh pit going at the Shoreline, that was two little pits next to eachother, with a figure 8 going arround them, and an oval arround that. It wasnt planned it just happened that way. So much fun!

I play piano (I have a Chickering), guitar (mostly acoustic lately) & saxophone (have played all from bari to soprano but I only own an alto).
I play to relax, mostly jazz and classical. I also compose on piano and guitar. For the past week I haven't played anything because I sprained my wrist (and typing ain't fun either), and it is REALLY frustrating. :(

i started out in middle school playing the trumpet for 3 years, i hated it so i finally got an electric guiatar from a local shop, its suppose to be pretty decent, the thing is though no one has been able to tell me what it is, they say its might be an Epiphone SG ( but they dont make one like this one) but its got an SG name plate and Chrome grover tuners, maybe you guitarist can tell me what it is, either way i never got around to playing it and am gonna start back up pretty soon cause things are gettin boring around here, heres some pics. If you guys could tell we what i have and what its worth that would be cool.

Nice Zep ! Go for it ! I always like to encourage folks to take up an instrument and do something with it. I never did until I was almost 40. Better late than never, but I do wish I had taken it up alot sooner.
Have fun with your guitar....and I hope someone here can help you identify it.

Id say its an Epiphone SG-400 (http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=24&CollectionID=3) with optional Chrome grover tuners. A kinda like custom addition. Anyways, its a cool guitar and you should get riffing right away!!

Unfortunately, they are not common nor inexpensive (most start at around $6K US and go up from there).

I'm a DJ. Used to be on the radio and do gigs. Still wouldn't call myself "good" by any means. Been playing the piano since I can remember. I also played violin in school. Have also been told I can sing.
My boyfriend is also a DJ (drum and bass, aka "jungle") and also produces his own tracks. He's going to feature me singing on his tracks one of these days. When we get around to it, and I get over the embarassment.
See, there are musical fishie folks :) Who knew there were so many talented folks on this forum?
