Has any one seen this documentary? It's in tonight's Oscar nomination for the best documentary, Here is a description of the film.

FILM SYNOPSIS
In Africa's Lake Victoria, once a biologically diverse ecosystem, the introduction of the predatory Nile perch has proven to be an ecological disaster. Now the center of the region's economy as an export to the markets of Europe, the perch has decimated the rest of lake's fish and left it a wasteland.

Yeah thats been a huge problem, thank god they haven't introduced it into malawi or tangynika, however I believe there are some smaller lakes in the area that also got the Nile Perch. And not only does the perch eat all the cichlids, but the locals dont even like the taste of it so they just continue to eat the cichlids. :(

The introduction of non-native species of fish has been an ongoing problem all over the world. In Africa however, newer, non-sustainable agricultural practices, along with civil wars and famine, have further exacerbated preservation efforts.
