I am wondering if my tank crashed. when I checked it on Saturday there were about 10 to 20 nitrates no amonia and about .25 nitrites. When I checked it today there was no nitrates no nitrites and it looked like there was no Amonia but it did look like it was a little green but it could have been my eyes darn color charts. Any help would be appreciated.

Would there be a reason for the crash? Intense cleaning for example? More likely is too much food, adding more fish, or a fishy(or other organism's) death :(
 
Yes I have read the thread when I first registerd. What I was wondering though, Is it normal for nitrates to totally drop in two days to Zero. I checked water parameters today NITRITES 0 NITRATES 0 AMMONIA 0

cool- that shouldn't happen- unless you have a very nitrate thirsty plant that you've added to the tank.

as long as nitrite and amonia are 0 you're doing good

i don't think your tank has crashed

but i would suggest doing your nitrate test again b/c the chemicals involved are pretty touchy- make sure you shake the botles really well before you add them and that shake the test tube after they've been added.

i had to test my kh like 8 times the first time i started testing for it to get the result consisitent enough that i could be sure of the test reading.
 
Kyle3 I read your last post I redid the nitrate test shaking both bottles really well and the nitrates are reading now 10 ppm. I am planning on doing a water change tonight when the wife gets home. Ammonia is still zero as is Nitrites.

10ppm is an acceptable level of Nitrates, FYI
