Hello, I have a question. I have a friend who currently has a 55 gallon aquarium with a female convict about 4 inches in size and a pangasius catfish that is about 8 inches long. She would like to eventually convert to a planted tank with fairly non aggressive fish, but with atleast some of them with personalities. She doesn't plan to replace these two fish, but wants to keep them til they die, unless she can find a good home for them. That isn't likely forth coming. The convict currently isn't particularly healthy, has a tumor on one pectoral fin and other growths on its body but is still going strong. The pangasius catfish has one eye, but is quite healthy. I am trying to think of some interesting fairly non aggressive fish that can be added safely. She really likes the personality of cichlids and non schooling fish. I am considering angelfish. I know of some angelfish that are about 2.5 inches in the body so I am thinking they would be big enough. My main question is whether the convict will shred them. I have never owned convicts myself so don't know for sure what would be the best tankmates. Any ideas would be great!

i would never put angels with any convict jsut becuse of the aggressive temperment of a convict and peaceful temperment of the angel, the angel will be killed quickly.
