Hi,

This will be my first thread here. I have a 29 gallon tropical tank where I keep 2 gouramies (2 in long each), 1 rainbow shark (1.5 in) and 1 pleco. I think I may have some room to add 1 or 2 more fish. I'm trying to decide what I should add to this tank.

The tank condition is Nitrate: 10 (pretty constant), pH 7.8, Alkalinity 120, Hardness 75. I just upgraded the filter to the Emperor 280 1 week ago (so I don't think I'll run into problem if I over-crowd the tank a little bit).

What kind of fish I should add to this tank? Is it ok to put a pair of blood parrot cichlids? Or some other peaceful, small cichlids like orange chromides?

Thanks.

Tanks kinda small to add lg fish the pleco is to big to be there for starts they get up to 2 feet sometimes, blood parots get to be around 10" & rainbow sharks 6" you need like at leats a 55 gallon for what you want

Thanks for the reply. The tank is all I can afford right now. Besides, I live in an apt, and move around quite often. So I really can't upgrade to 55 gallon in the next 3 years.

I agree about the pleco. But how fast does it grow? Does it grow to over 1 foot in this time span of 3 years? I figure the tank is ok for at 2 years, right?

Wrong. Your pleco could easily get a foot long in 6-8 months, unless you underfeed it, which is cruel. A bristlenose or any of the Peckoltias would be a better choice - considerably smaller as adults, with all the coolness of sticking on the side of the glass.
