I am getting a 40 gallon aquarium tomarrow, I was thinking about setting it up as a saltwater tank. I am expierenced with freshwater, but have never set up a saltwater aquarium. What would I need to set it up? I just want fish, no corals or anything else. I will decorate it with fake corals. What are some good fish and what supplies will I need? And roughly how much would it cost to set up?
Thanks

I would go the LR and LS route if you are really think of salt. I had fresh at first and then one day just change overnight. I replace my rock bottom with coral chips, it wasn't all that difficult but for the last 3 years have had LS and LR in my 75gal setup. I have had more luck with salt fish than with fresh for some reason. I killed more fresh fish, why I don't know. Maybe the saltwater fish really make you take a look at what you are doing since you spend more money on it. I wouldn't go back for anything. For fish that are easy to care for, I have dad luck with clownfish. A yellowtail damsel is also easy to care for. I have a coral beauty angel which I have had no problems with. It really depends on your LFS too.

Live Sand and Live Rock. The stuff is amazing. I wouldn't start a tank without it. You can some really nice stuff on either the web or maybe your LFS. I live about 2 hours from a place in Indiana and I went and bought stuff that was ready to go to put in my tank. I have approx 100lbs and it almost take care of your water by itself. Sure you have to do water changes but it will help in the long run. That and the sand. You can build your own reef.
