There is this little fish store I know in Hollywood (I'm not sure if I can mention their name) that sells these South American Discus for $10-15. They are very healthy and range from about an inch and a half to 3 inches. Another LFS I go to sells the same fish, size and everything, for $40. Gosh, I just love those little run-of-the-mill mini mall fish stores where the cashier guy can hardly speak any English and puts their ice cream in the same freezer as their frozen bloodworms. (Really, I saw this guy open their fridge to sell someone some live bloodworms and they got their milk, orange juice, some left-overs in there too.)
Hi , One more question. Are they Wild caught or Farmed? HUGE price diff. in those. I am looking at getting a couple for my 65G and the size of the fish really set's the price. I have seen 12" wild caught for $175 at BIG ALS. I have seen 2" farmed for $35 at LFS.
Considering their delicate nature and high prices, I would highly suggest ordering them directly from a reputable breeder. You'll get better healthier fish, and will probably save money since most people want to have a nice group of them.

they are $90 to $150 here, but my lfs gets them from some breeder, and all the fish stores are in conspiracy on high prices in my area... an i havnt seen discus anywhere else in my area, so i guess that breeder has a monopoly...
gosh they are REALLY pretty fish tho, so maybe the price is right...
