Well, about two weeks into my new planted tank, i'm enjoying it very much. The tank is a 20g high with eco-complete substrate. I have only a couple oto's in there for now for fish.

Let me know what you think! suggestions?? questions?? One thing i plan to do it get a background (i think black)

The first pic is the day i first planted, the rest are when i added the new plants. I had to already trim my anacharis 2 weeks into it and replant them!! The DIY CO2 is doing great for me! Also, i apologize for the not so great picture taking. I was a bit excited to get pics up, i will take better ones soon.

looks good, but i hope you fishless cycled for the otos. they can be sensative in new tanks, and they need to eat algae. they can starve very easily. it doesn't look like you have any algae, and it can be hard to get them to eat veggies in a new tank when they're stressed and scared.

It's called Carib Sea Eco-Complete Substrate. It comes in a bags with water inside and live bacteria. It's like a mixture of sand and small pebbles. it looks fairly black as you can see in the picture.
Here a good site to buy it from: http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/product.xml?product_id=20557&category_id=3145&pcid1=3349

It's good stuff, but it smells like pig's crap. jk

I bought my stubstrate (Eco-Complete) at my LFS... They sell it pretty much anywhere. I've heard so many good things about it, so I figured i'd give it a go. So far so good!

About the Algae, I do not have much of any.. They have been snacking on shrimp pellets, blanched broccoli, and reluctantly algae wafers.

And yes i did cycle properly for the otos. They seem to be pretty happy!
