Hey guys, have a few questions about upgrading my wattage for a planted tank. Currently I have a 18 watt hood that came with the tank. I am looking to upgrade to about a 55 watt, as my tank is 29 gallons. I have looked at AHsupply, as I have seen them be recomended. Could this work for me, and is this the best for the money? Thanks!

you may want to check eBay for a Compact Fluorescent hood that will fit the tank.
I bought a 4 X 55 Watt light for $85 including delivery.
The eBay Seller "AquaDeal" has some really good stuff on there!
PEACE!

I have a ah 55 on my 29. i liked it so much that I got the ah 4x55 for my 90. I friend bought a 4x55 off of ebay, the extra $$$ was well spent on the ah supply stuff.

So did you buy the retro fit or just a whole new lighting fixture.
Anyone else?

I think that AHsupply is your best deal. Remember that it's how much light you get in that's important, and that wattage is just a rough, imprecise guideline. The advantage of AHsupply lighting is their reflector. There is a good comparison on the ahsupply site of their product versus another.
If using lower wattage lighting from AHsupply will get you the same amount of light, then you'll also save on your electricity and bulb-replacement bills in the long run. :)

I bought the kit and installed it into the old fixture, AH has pictures of the reto deal. The install was not too difficult. For the 90 gallon tank I made a fixture.
